Knossos Ruins, and Other Interests

After Crete was liberated from Turks, a British Sir Arthur Evans who bought the site, started excavation in Knossos in 1900. Within three years, the greater part of the palace had come to light. Since then, Minoan civilization in Knossos have been recognized in the world gradually, although Evans' reconstruction works are very controversial.
The Knossos Palace is in a large scale, having entrances of west, south, east, north and the central court.
The prepalatial period: 2800-1900 BC, the old palace period: 1900-1700 BC, the new palace period : 1700-1400 BC, and postpalatial period: 1400-1100 BC..

The stairs on the right lead from the Central Court to the upper floor of the West Wing.. This is largely reconstructed by Evans.

Those pithoi (storage jars) were found in the palace.

The fresco of blue monkeys and the lady.
Those were found at Akrotiri Ruin at Thera, Santorini. Exhibit at Archaeological museum in Fira, Santorini
Boxing between two boys with a blue glove on one hand, and a fisherman carrying fish. Those were also found at Akrotiri Ruin in Snatorini.. They provide us with information of the civilized life of prehistoric era( before 1500-1600 B.C.) I made those images from a book.
